Reporting and takedowns
How to report something, and what we promise back.
How to report
Report a profile or a message directly from the screen it appears on — every profile carries a report control. If you cannot reach the content itself (it has already been removed, or the problem is with the platform rather than one profile), write to us from Settings once signed in.
What we promise, and by when
- 24 hoursWe acknowledge that a report has reached us.
- 24 hoursFor a report of intimate or obscene photographs of a real, identifiable person — the fastest category, and the one the law treats most seriously.
- 15 daysFor an ordinary report, to reach and act on a decision.
- 36 hoursFor a valid order from a court or a government authority under the IT Act.
What happens to the other person
They are never told who reported them. A moderator's decision — to remove content, suspend an account, or take no action — is recorded with a reason. If your report leads to a suspension, you are not told what the reason was beyond that a decision was made; if it is your own account that is suspended, you are told why and how to appeal.
Appeals
A suspended account can still sign in to read why and to appeal. An appeal is read by a person, not resolved automatically. See Community guidelines for what the rules actually are.
