Accessibility
What this site does today for people who use it with a screen reader, a keyboard alone, or with motion and contrast settings turned up — and what it does not do yet.
What we are aiming for
We are working towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, the standard the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 points at for digital services in India.
We are not claiming to have reached it. This site has not been audited by an accessibility specialist and has not been tested end to end with assistive technology. Saying otherwise would be easy and would be untrue, and the person it would mislead is the one person this page exists for.
What is in place today
- Language and directionEvery page declares which language it is in, and switches to right-to-left layout when you choose a language that reads that way.
- Reduced motionIf your device is set to reduce motion, the animations across the site stop rather than merely slow down.
- Labelled controlsButtons, form fields and icons carry text labels for screen readers, including the ones drawn only as a symbol.
- Text alternativesPhotographs and illustrations carry a description for anyone who cannot see them.
- Visible focusMoving through a page with the Tab key shows you where you are, on the screens where it matters most.
What is not done yet
Named plainly, so that nobody has to discover them the hard way:
- There is no “skip to content” link, so reaching the main part of a page with a keyboard means passing through the navigation each time.
- Colour contrast has not been measured against the standard across the whole site.
- No independent accessibility audit has been carried out, and no formal conformance report exists.
- The site has not been tested with screen readers in the way a person who depends on one would use it.
If something here shuts you out
Tell us, and be as specific as you can manage — the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what you use to browse. We will tell you what we can do and by when, rather than only that we have received it.
